Precious Metal Declarations

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
I’ve tried several times to contact customs about this but always get an error message advising I "try again later." Maybe someone here can help. Here’s my question:

With a work permit or visa, how would someone go about importing, declaring, and otherwise legally processing precious metals (already owned, as a personal investment)? What taxes or other fees might apply? Are there special forms/declarations to file if shipped direct country-to-country?

Any related information or contact suggestions would be appreciated. :dankk2:

Is 100 points enough??

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Hi all,

NZI aren’t prepared to accept my work experience, which bumps me back from 180 points to just 100.

I’m currently trying to get further proof to contest this, but if they don’t accept it, what is the likelihood of escaping the pool with 100 points?

We are in NZ already (WHV) and I have a job that will be made permanent if I get a new visa.

Is there anything I can do to get out quicker (i.e. a reference from my current employer)?

Thanks

UK Pensions.

Hi All

Can anyone help me with this one. I’ve just returned from nz, Got speaking too a x police officer from the uk, Who informed me that if i take my pension from the uk the goverment can tax me round about 49%. The lump sum I intend to take is only about 27,000.

If this is the true are they loopholes to get around it i.e. off shore account.

No case officer

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Hi,

I have sent my ITA off around two weeks ago and got all my original documents and passport returned. Apparently there is no case officer available to process my case. How long do you think it will take?
I have the weird feeling, as I just got granted a 2 year work permit, it might take ages, as I am basically not in a hurry.
I am just hoping that this is not a bad sign.

Hi World First, in July this year my term deposit ends. Do you think I should open a new one or should I leave the money in the bank and wait for better interest rates?

Bound for Timaru

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Hi, My husband and I have applied for PR and are currently waiting to hear if we have been successful. If we are then we plan to head to Timaru mid August 09 and was just wondering if anyone out there is currently in Timaru or nearby and can offer any general advise about the area. We have been but of course it’s not the same as living there. Many thanks

Please let me know if I can claim points under Absolute skills shortage, as what I observed was my work skills C,C++,Unix are mentioned under absolute skills shortage list.

Thanks & regards,
